Using videos for teaching Lesson Plan

Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.
-Malcolm X-

Generative Questions:
Why are videos necessary in the ESL/EFL classroom?
How can the English teacher adapt videos in his/her class?

Our theme of the week is related to lesson plan; for this reason, it is important to take into account what does lesson plan mean? A lesson plan is a detailed guide for teaching a lesson. It's a step-by-step guide that outlines the teacher's objectives for what the students will accomplish that day. Creating a lesson plan involves setting goals, developing activities, and determining the materials that will be used.

I strongly feel that, a productive lesson is not one in which everything goes exactly as planned, but one in which both learners and professor learn from each other. In fact, Butt (2006) mentions that:
Successful lesson planning is linked to the evaluation of lessons previously taught- a circular relationship that helps to ensure good teaching and learning in both the short and long term. Interestingly, teachers who have problems in the classroom do not make this causal link back to their lesson planning. (p.3)

It is important to distinguish the lesson plan`s benefits

Helps you to stay on track
Helps to prepare for every step of the lesson
Provides guidance for a substitute
Helps you save time in the future (if you recycle your lessons)
Helps you achieve your objectives
Helps to think in an organized manner

Components of a Lesson Plan
The easiest way to create a lesson plan is to use a lesson plan template. This will help you stay prepared and organized.

Let me show you my lesson plan

Warm up:
Teacher shows several pictures which are activities that take place during the day in order to their students identify new vocabulary.
Presentation:
Educator indicates their students make a round table, the he shows a video related to Tiger Tony’s routine.

Practice:
Learners watch the video and the sequence of the actions, in order to distinguish activities carried out by the tiger

Free Practice:
Student should practice in pairs and developed questions about the activity carried out by the tiger such as

·         What does he do after taking a bath?
·         What are the activities that he carries out during the day?

Consolidation:
Students will form two groups (audience and a person interacting on a common day). On the one hand, the role of tiger must be polite and with apprehensible. On the other hand, the spectators must be focused in the actions performed by the main character. Then students change positions each minute. Students should use the daily routine’s vocabulary most of the time as possible.

Observations

 What things should be changed?

My lesson plan was created in order to help students with their cognitive process. My main classroom material is focused on listening; to be more precise, in a beautiful song which shows a great tiger and its daily activities.

Through this video students are going able to recognize several vocabularies related to daily routines. Added to that, they will be able to identify what activities the tiger does.
The class warm up is focused on recognizing different images related to routines. For instance:

Through this project, I analyzed several aspects relate to the using videos in the EFL/ESL classroom and how they can enrich my class. I found reasons to think that using videos as main resource could help me significantly; what is more, these visual materials allow to apply different concepts related to education and its importance in the teaching process. It is no secret that teacher can adapt visual material such as: songs, movies, cartoon, among others, in order to encourage students. What I mean, these kinds of instructive materials are incorporated through mechanism established. It is often said that, students have several problems related to learning English; in fact, they must fight against big obstacles such as: few lessons, lack of technological equipment, or demotivation. Nevertheless; none of this is compared with learning something in a wrong way. So, it is important to figure out which aspects could be changed, of course, with the purpose of improving students ‘skills.
